Job description

• General role:
o The Field Engineer is permanently based on-site, and his role is to provide active support to the
site teams (Construction and Commissioning) in resolving encountered issues, as well as
coordinating and monitoring corrective actions in collaboration with the engineering package
teams.
o He must ensure that solutions are proposed for issues raised by the site and verify that all
requests are duly documented and forwarded to the appropriate stakeholders.
o Whenever feasible, and in agreement with the Engineering offices, he ensures the formalization
and implementation of the solutions proposed locally.
o In addition to ensuring the proper application of change management processes on-site, he must
identify and report any issues likely to impact other projects, and to contribute to their
mitigation.
• Special focus for S2 work package:
o As part of his duties, he will focus on all issues related to the installation/Erection of the
equipment activities and interfaces/coordination within GE packages/systems, and with related
activities in the scope of Partner & Contractor.
o He will ensure a daily monitoring in direct contact with the site teams and the partner(s) &
Contractors in his field of activity.
o He will provide close support and follow up to the engineering department by proposing
documented solutions, and could as well update or prepare, as appropriate, SMFs under the
supervision of the assigned engineering office.
• Other actions:
o He provides support to the Site Manager during technical meetings involving the client, partners,
and subcontractors.
o In collaboration with the Quality and Document Control teams, he ensures strict adherence to the
change management process and the proper maintenance of "As-Built" (marked-up)
documentation.
o He participates in technical and coordination meetings related to his engineering activity(ies), as
well as those concerning general site operations and mandatory training sessions.
o He actively supports all EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) initiatives and ensures that all
solutions to be implemented comply with applicable safety regulations.
Key Missions
This role will have the following key missions:
• Leadership and communication:
o He must communicate proactively with the Site teams and other field engineers. He must also be
attentive and raise issues for any potential impact of problems on other ongoing or future
projects.
o He must remain firm regarding the objectives and priorities defined by project management.
• Technical :
o Technical support for any problems arising during Construction and Commissioning activities.
o He must ensure that partners and service providers have the correct versions of documents,
access to SMF (System Management Framework) responses, and Site Queries.
o He must ensure that problems are properly recorded, formulated and documented, and
addressed to right owner, and must closely follow up with the engineer and site up to their
resolution.
o Whenever possible, he researches with the site teams of solutions and coordinates with
Engineering offices for their direct implementation.
o Close collaboration and agree with partner before the implementation of any solution proposed
by construction teams or received from Engineering offices
• Process:
o He ensures that the deployed GFC/SQ/SMF/Red Lines processes are used correctly. In this, he can
rely on the Quality team and Field Engineering leader.
o He participates when required to GFC/SQ/SMF/RMU meetings with Site and engineering teams as
instructed by Field Engineering leader
• Interfaces:
o He coordinates with interface manager and Engineering for any question related to the interfaces
and limit of scope.
• REX/Lesson learnt/optimization:
o He must highlight all the problems encountered that could be repeated on other sites.
o He must also communicate the improvements made that could benefit other projects
• Collaboration:
o Work closely with Site Manager, Construction and Commissioning teams, Engineering offices.
o Compliance with EHS rules.
• Reporting:
o He will report directly to the Field Engineering leader
Desired Profile
• Educational Background:
o Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
o Required Habilitations
• Experience:
o Similar experience on HVDC (OCP or OCS station) or large AC projects,
o Experience validated by the managers from previous projects,
o Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
• Technical Expertise/skills:
o Deep understanding of technical documentation related to the activity (SLD, Layouts and Erection
drawing, Principles, Mechanical specifications, Equipment data sheets, BoM, OMM etc ),
o Understanding of the Engineering phases and construction sequences,
o Understanding of contractual obligations, limit of scope and evaluating contractual/cost impact of
the possible solutions,
o Analyzing planning for his scope and estimating the impact of issues,
o Familiar with Office suite (Excel, word)
• Problem-Solving:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical
challenges and deliver effective solutions.
• Communication:
o Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team with fluent spoken/written English.
o Capacity to listen, evaluate /challenge/accept solutions coming from others,
• Others:
o Organized and meticulous,
o Decision maker, autonomous, promoting collaborative/sharing solutions, team player,
o Strong presence/involvement on the construction site,
