·Provide expert guidance on the formulation and revision of traffic laws, regulations, and enforcement policies to address emerging safety risks.
·Contribute to long-term planning of road and intersection designs that incorporate safety-by design principles and align with RTA’s 20-minute city and smart mobility visions.
·Draft engineering guidance on futuristic safety topics (e.g., autonomous vehicles, smart monitoring) and integrate them into RTA’s technical standards.
·Participate in budgeting cycles by identifying resource requirements for blackspot treatments, safety studies, and inspection technologies.
Operations
·Oversee formal identification, assessment, and treatment of accident blackspots using field inspections, traffic data, and geospatial analysis.
·Lead initiatives to standardize and upgrade road and traffic signal design criteria based on accident patterns and international safety benchmarks.
·Implement and manage the road safety audit system across project phases—from design to post-opening—and ensure audit findings are tracked and acted upon.
·Review temporary and permanent traffic diversion plans to assess safety implications, particularly during major works and high-traffic events.
·Serve as RTA’s technical representative in multi-agency traffic safety and enforcement committees.
·Advise on incident-prone areas using advanced crash analytics and recommend infrastructure or policy-based interventions.
·Coordinate with internal design teams and external consultants to embed safety engineering elements in transportation projects.
Process / Product Improvement
·Recommend AI and data analytics-based enhancements in accident prediction, safety monitoring, and blackspot detection.
·Conduct post-incident technical reviews and propose design/operational changes to prevent recurrence.
·Contribute to the continuous update of manuals and guidelines related to traffic safety, including speed control, pedestrian safety, and vulnerability assessments.
Physical Working Conditions
·Work involves periodic field inspections at crash locations, high-risk intersections, and traffic diversions.
·May require coordinating with emergency response agencies and law enforcement at incident sites.
