Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all mechanical systems onboard Dredging vessels.
  • Ensure smooth operation of main propulsion engines, dredge pumps, gearboxes, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance as per planned maintenance system (PMS).
  • Inspect and service suction pipelines, drag heads, valves, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and restore equipment to operational condition with minimum downtime.
  • Assist Chief Engineer in dry-dock repairs, overhauls, and machinery inspections.
  • Maintain lubrication schedules, fuel systems, cooling systems, and compressor units.
  • Ensure availability of critical spare parts and proper inventory control onboard.
  • Follow safety procedures, permit-to-work system, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Coordinate with engine room crew for efficient dredging operations and machinery performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, breakdowns, and repair logs.
  • Support troubleshooting of dredge pumps during production cycles and optimize efficiency.
  • Participate in emergency repairs and breakdown recovery at sea.
  • Ensure adherence to company and class requirements (DNV/ABS/LR as applicable).
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety, and operational readiness of machinery spaces.

Qualifications:

Certificate as Rating Forming part of Engine Room Watch


STCW training certification & Medical fitness certificate.


5-10 years experience onboard Dredger.
