Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all mechanical systems onboard the dredger.
  • Work on dredge pumps, cutter heads, suction systems, valves, pipelines, and associated machinery.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as per Planned Maintenance System (PMS) schedules.
  • Attend breakdowns and ensure quick restoration of dredging operations with minimal downtime.
  • Assist in overhauling of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
  • Monitor wear and tear of dredging components and recommend replacement or repair actions.
  • Carry out alignment, fitting, welding, and fabrication works as required onboard.
  • Support engine room team during major maintenance, dry-dock, and repair periods.
  • Maintain proper records of maintenance activities, spare parts consumption, and defect reports.
  • Ensure safe working practices and comply with onboard HSE, MARPOL, and company procedures.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in troubleshooting hydraulic and high-pressure systems used in dredging operations.
  • Coordinate with engineers to ensure continuous availability of dredging equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of workshop and mechanical areas onboard.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by Chief Engineer.

Qualifications:

Certified as Rating forming part of Engine Room watch.


5 years experience onboard Dredgers.
