Job Description

The Duty Engineer is responsible for supporting the Engineering Supervisor in the daily operations of the Engineering Department, ensuring the efficient maintenance and operation of all hotel facilities and equipment. The role oversees engineering activities during assigned shifts, responds to maintenance requests, ensures compliance with hotel policies and safety standards, and provides timely updates on operational matters. The Duty Engineer also promptly escalates any issues that may impact the hotel's operations, assets, or guest experience to management for appropriate action.


  • Check and ensure that the temperature of cold stores, public areas etc. are maintained as per the specifications.
  • Check and ensure the working condition of fire detectors, firefighting systems, transformers, electrical systems, etc.
  • Coordinate with other departments for regular servicing and testing of equipment.
  • Follow PPM schedule as planned on daily basis with the help of engineering team and update respective document on daily basis to up keep the file
  • update utility consumption on daily basis and report to ACE
  • Attend all the complaints with proper procedure and prioritize guest comfort and update the status on the log and inform your superior when required
  • Monitor BMS system for all the equipment and its time schedule
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, emergency calls, equipment breakdowns, and urgent repairs across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and major equipment systems
  • Generate comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly reports documenting maintenance activities, work completed, outstanding tasks, and operational metrics
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety protocols, regulations, and occupational health and safety procedures.
  •  Assist engineering crews during emergencies and crisis situations
  • Report major operational issues and concerns to the Assistant Engineering Manager in a timely and transparent manner

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a similar maintenance role, preferably within the hospitality industry, with hands-on experience in hotel facilities maintenance and operations.


  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.


  • Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance efficiently and safely.


  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members, mechanics, contractors, and other departments.


  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to respond promptly to maintenance issues.


  • Positive, proactive, and helpful attitude towards work, colleagues, and guest service.


  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
