Job description

ROLE SCOPE 


  • Oversee and lead all Tailoring Departments across Miral Experiences Costuming Departments, ensuring consistent standards of craftsmanship, efficiency, and artistic quality.
  • Act as the single point of contact for senior management regarding tailoring operations, workload planning, quality assurance, and production readiness.
  • Manage, mentor, and support Senior Tailors and seamstresses, providing technical leadership, performance guidance, and professional development.
  • Oversee both operational tailoring workflows (daily alterations, repairs, maintenance) and creative costume build-ups, ensuring operational needs are met without disruption during peak creative periods.
  • Plan, prioritize, and balance departmental workload to maintain continuity of operational costume support while delivering creative projects on schedule.
  • Lead and supervise master-level pattern making, draping, fittings, and construction for complex male and female costumes across productions and special events.
  • Ensure creative build-ups are aligned with the Costume Technology department and other Creative Costuming sub-departments, coordinating fittings, timelines, and technical requirements.
  • Oversee quality control across all tailoring outputs, actively safeguarding production, brand, and artistic values across all properties.
  • Manage tailoring team scheduling, including days off, annual leave planning, and resource allocation to maintain adequate coverage at all times.
  • Support and guide Senior Tailors in the execution of challenging costume developments, offering solutions to technical and construction challenges.
  • Ensure costumes are completed and maintained in time for season openings, rehearsals, fittings, and live operations.
  • Oversee fabric, trims, and materials usage across workshops, supporting inventory planning and timely ordering in collaboration with management.
  • Supervise and guide external vendors involved in tailoring or costume construction, ensuring adherence to quality and technical standards.
  • Contribute to departmental and cross-departmental planning meetings, providing expert insights into tailoring capabilities, timelines, and workflow optimization.
  • Champion a positive, collaborative, safe, and high-performance work environment that fosters creativity, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Perform additional duties as required by leadership, demonstrating flexibility, strategic thinking, and commitment to organizational goals.


QUALIFICATIONS


Essential:


  • Higher secondary or equivalent education
  • Formal or extensive professional experience in costume tailoring for both male and female garments
  • Minimum of 5 years of master-level tailoring experience with costumes and managing a team of tailors
  • 12+ years of professional sewing and tailoring experience
  • Master-level costume tailoring skills for both female and male costumes, including advanced hand and machine sewing
  • Expert fabric draping, cutting, fitting, and pattern making skills
  • Ability to lead and review complex costume builds from concept through execution
  • Proficient in operating industrial and domestic sewing machines and industrial serger machines
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and quality control
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Ability to balance operational and creative priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Extensive experience working with performers and understanding performance-driven costume requirements
     

Desirable:


  • Associate degree or higher in Theatre, Costume Design, or a related field
  • 5+ years working in theme parks, large-scale theatrical productions, live entertainment, or cruise ship costume operations
  • Knowledge of theatrical show supplies, materials, and specialty vendors
  • Specialization in costume technology, complex finishes, or embroidery
  • Theme park or large-scale entertainment production experience
