About the job MATERIAL AND CORROSION SENIOR ENGINEER

We are seeking an experienced Material and Corrosion Senior Lead to join our EPC project team supporting major oil & gas developments in the Middle East. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading material selection, corrosion control strategies, and integrity assurance activities across all phases of the project lifecycle, from FEED through to commissioning and start-up.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead material selection and corrosion engineering activities for onshore and offshore oil & gas facilities including pipelines, pressure vessels, piping systems, tanks, and process equipment.
  • Develop and review material selection reports, corrosion assessments, corrosion management philosophies, and material specifications in accordance with project and client requirements.
  • Perform corrosion studies including internal and external corrosion analysis, corrosion rate calculations, and mitigation strategies for process systems and utilities.
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as corrosion control documents, coating specifications, cathodic protection requirements, insulation specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Evaluate material suitability for sour service, high-temperature, corrosive, and offshore environments in compliance with international standards and client specifications.
  • Coordinate with process, piping, mechanical, inspection, and procurement disciplines to ensure optimized and cost-effective material solutions.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases, including resolution of material-related technical queries and NCRs.
  • Review vendor documents, material certificates, and third-party engineering submissions for technical compliance.
  • Support risk-based inspection (RBI), integrity management, and fitness-for-service assessments where required.
  • Participate in HAZOP, design reviews, technical bid evaluations, and project engineering meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, international codes, and company engineering standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on corrosion mitigation and material engineering best practices.

KEY QULIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of experience in material and corrosion engineering within oil & gas EPC projects.
  • Strong knowledge of material selection for carbon steel, stainless steel, CRA alloys, duplex, super duplex, and non-metallic materials.
  • Familiarity with corrosion mitigation techniques including coatings, cathodic protection, chemical treatment, and corrosion monitoring systems.
  • Sound understanding of international standards and codes such as NACE, ASTM, ASME, API, ISO, and DNV.
  • Experience with sour service requirements in accordance with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of corrosion modeling software and engineering tools is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, Shell, or other major operator standards is preferred.
  • Experience in brownfield and greenfield EPC projects within the GCC region is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, technical leadership, and interdisciplinary coordination skills.
