About the job PIPING DESIGNER

We are seeking a highly skilled Piping Designer to join our engineering team for oil & gas projects in the FEED and Detail Design phases. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with ADNOC onshore projects, focusing on the development, design, and coordination of piping layouts, 3D modeling, and piping deliverables for process and utility systems.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Develop and prepare piping design deliverables for oil & gas projects during FEED and Detail Design phases.
  • Prepare piping layouts, plot plans, equipment layouts, piping general arrangement (GA) drawings, isometrics, and piping support drawings.
  • Perform piping routing and layout design in accordance with project requirements, constructability considerations, safety requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain 3D models for piping systems, equipment, structures, and associated facilities using project-approved software.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC engineering standards, project specifications, and international codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, API, and ISO.
  • Interface with process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure proper integration of piping systems.
  • Participate in model reviews, layout reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOP sessions, and design coordination meetings.
  • Review vendor drawings and equipment data to ensure proper incorporation into piping layouts and 3D models.
  • Prepare material take-offs (MTOs), piping support requirements, and assist in the development of piping design documentation.
  • Support stress analysis requirements by incorporating flexibility, accessibility, operability, and maintenance considerations into piping layouts.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases as required.

Key Qualifications:


  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in piping design for oil & gas projects, with proven ADNOC onshore project experience.
  • Strong knowledge of piping design principles, plant layout development, piping routing, and equipment arrangement.
  • Experience with FEED and Detail Design documentation, 3D modeling, and multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Hands-on experience in the design of process piping, utility piping, piping supports, underground piping systems, and piping associated with pumps, compressors, vessels, heat exchangers, and package units.
  • Familiarity with piping design codes and standards including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, API, ANSI, and ADNOC specifications.
  • Proficient in engineering and 3D modeling software such as PDMS, E3D, SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), AutoCAD, Navisworks, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of piping materials, piping classes, valve selection, support design concepts, and isometric generation.
  • Experience in model clash detection, constructability reviews, and layout optimization.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment datasheets, vendor drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
