Job description

Senior Chassis Design Engineer

A highly experienced engineering professional responsible for leading the design, development, and validation of vehicle chassis systems from concept through release and production launch. This role focuses on delivering robust, high-performance, and manufacturable chassis components and assemblies that meet structural integrity, durability targets, safety expectations, and vehicle dynamics performance requirements. The position requires strong technical leadership, disciplined execution of engineering processes, and close collaboration across engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure designs are feasible, consistent, and ready for scalable production.

Essential Job Functions
  • Own end-to-end chassis design activities, including concept development, detailed design, and formal design release, ensuring technical correctness, traceability, and alignment with program timing and milestones.

  • Create and modify CAD models, drawings, and engineering specifications for chassis components and assemblies, maintaining accuracy, configuration control, and clear documentation for internal and supplier handoffs.

  • Lead design reviews, DFMEA development and reviews, tolerance analysis, and engineering change management to identify risks early, reduce variability, and ensure changes are properly evaluated for impact across performance, cost, and manufacturability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to validate design feasibility, confirm material and process selections, and support quality requirements through robust communication and issue resolution.

  • Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and issue resolution through to production launch, including root-cause analysis, corrective actions, verification planning, and confirmation that final designs meet performance and durability objectives.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable performance, durability, safety, and regulatory requirements by applying relevant engineering standards, verifying requirements are satisfied, and maintaining appropriate evidence throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in chassis engineering and vehicle systems design, with demonstrated ability to translate requirements into practical, build-ready designs across multiple program phases.

  • Strong CAD and engineering analysis capability, including proficiency with engineering data, simulations, and structured evaluation methods to support design decisions and performance outcomes.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to lead reviews, align diverse teams, and drive actions to closure while maintaining clear technical rationale and documentation.

Minimum Requirement

Typically requires 8+ years of experience in chassis design within automotive OEM or Tier-1 environments. Demonstrates strong expertise in CAD design, CAE and simulation, vehicle dynamics, and design for manufacturability (DFM), along with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Has experience coordinating design reviews and engineering change processes, applying tolerance and risk-based engineering practices, and partnering with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are robust, cost-aware, and ready for scalable production.
