About the job SENIOR INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEER

We are seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation Engineer to support the design, engineering, and execution of instrumentation and control systems for large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and reviewing instrumentation engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and project requirements, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, and providing technical support throughout FEED, Detailed Design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Lead instrumentation engineering and design activities for industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage the preparation and review of instrumentation design deliverables including Instrument Index and I/O Lists, Process Control Narratives and Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) review and development support, Instrument Datasheets and Technical Specifications, Control System Architecture Design (DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, F&G Systems), Cause & Effect Diagrams and Logic Diagram
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Telecom, and HSE disciplines to ensure integrated instrumentation and control system design.
  • Review and approve engineering contractor and vendor documents including drawings, datasheets, control philosophies, and technical submissions.
  • Participate in technical discussions with clients, consultants, licensors, vendors, and third-party stakeholders.
  • Support design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL studies, constructability reviews, and value engineering workshops.
  • Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, and factory acceptance tests (FAT).
  • Provide engineering support during installation, testing, loop checking, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues during project execution and operational phases.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior instrumentation engineers and designers.
  • Ensure project schedules, quality requirements, and engineering deliverables are achieved within approved budgets.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Master's Degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum 10+ years of instrumentation engineering experience in industrial, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, water, or power projects.
  • Minimum 3–5 years in a Senior Instrumentation Engineer role.
  • Strong experience in FEED and Detailed Design (DD) project execution.
  • Solid knowledge of process instrumentation, industrial automation, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, ISA, ANSI, API, NFPA, and other relevant industry codes.
  • Strong experience in instrumentation system design including DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS/ESD, and Fire & Gas systems.
  • Experience in instrument sizing and selection, control valve sizing, and process measurement technologies.
  • Knowledge of SIL assessments, functional safety requirements, and IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 standards.
  • Understanding of hazardous area classification requirements and intrinsically safe system design.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/InTools), AVEVA Instrumentation, AutoCAD, and related engineering applications.
  • Experience in brownfield and greenfield project environments (Preferred).
  • Exposure to EPC contractor and PMC project execution environments (Preferred).
