We are seeking an experienced Senior Resident Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical data centre infrastructure. The successful candidate will act as the on-site technical lead, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and compliance of all data centre systems, including power, cooling, electrical, mechanical, and building management systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience in managing mission-critical environments with a focus on uptime, safety, and operational excellence.


Your role
  • Manage and oversee daily operations of critical data centre infrastructure and facilities.
  • Ensure maximum uptime and reliability of electrical, mechanical, and support systems.
  • Monitor and maintain UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, and cooling systems.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical equipment failures and operational incidents.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance, change management, and emergency response activities.
  • Monitor facility performance using BMS, DCIM, and other monitoring tools.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Supervise and manage third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Review maintenance reports, logs, SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs for accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential issues.
  • Prepare operational reports, incident reports, and performance dashboards for management.
  • Support capacity planning, energy-efficiency initiatives, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, stakeholders, and leadership teams.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians.
About you
  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in critical facility operations, with substantial experience in data centre environments.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Power distribution systems (MV/LV)
  • UPS and battery systems
  • Diesel generators and fuel systems
  • HVAC, chillers, and CRAC/CRAH units
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools
  • Fire detection and suppression systems
  • Experience working in Tier III/Tier IV data centre environments.
  • Proven expertise in incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, Uptime Institute methodologies, and data centre best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work in a 24x7 mission-critical environment and support on-call requirements.
