Job description

Administers Anesthesia to patients during Surgical and other medical procedures and is responsible for certain areas of administration under the general direction of the Chief Anesthesiologist.



Responsibilities:
  1. To conduct anesthesia for routine and emergency surgical patients resuscitate as a team member and manage critically ill ventilated ICU patients.


    1. To conduct assessment & re-assessment for all patients in the OPD, on admission, and prior to any procedure.


    2. Provides anesthesia with the full range of anesthetic agents.


    3. Provides technical advice and guidance to nursing staff, other specialists and registrars, as required, and provides orientation/training in new techniques and procedures.


    4. Interviews patients scheduled for surgery to asses and develop an anesthesia care plan and to establish rapport and allay fear and apprehension.


    5. Manage patients during sedation and during the period of actual recovery from sedation and documents monitoring.


    6. Sees patients post operatively to evaluate recovery from anesthesia, to assess complications and make recommendation as indicated.


    7. Supervises and maintains appropriate documentation on the “controlled drugs” for the division in the Obstetrical operating theaters and main O.R.


    8. Organize a suitable call-schedule to provide a satisfactory anesthetic service to the hospital.


    9. Organize and direct Q.I. activities of this division, including preparing reports, etc. as required.


    10. Assists Chief Anesthesiologist in supervising the day-to-day anesthetic work.


    11. Keeps current with new procedures and techniques in the field of Anesthesia.


    12. Acts as Chief Anesthesiologist as assigned in his absence.


    13. Stands on-call duty as assigned by Chief Anesthesiologist, for emergency surgery, obstetrics and/or medical procedures.


    14. Performs duties as outlined above and such other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Chief Anesthesiologist.


    15. Takes active part in the teaching of junior anesthesiologists and other nursing staff.


    16. To conduct anesthesia services in appropriate dosages for all age groups in routine or emergency situations.


    17. Actively participate in CPR.


    18. Provides on-call emergency services of anesthesia services.


Conducts labour analgesia.



Qualifications:
  1. Graduate from an accredited school of Medicine with an MBBS degree.


    1. Post graduate degree in Anesthesia (MD Anesthesiology) or equivalent.


    2. Atleast three years of experience in anesthesiology.


    3. Comprehensive knowledge of safe use of all general anesthetic agents, techniques and methods currently accepted in the practice of anesthesia.


    4. Ability in the absence of the Chief Anesthesiologist, to provide on-site assessment of personnel, equipment and overall anesthesia environment.


    5. Has high standard of professionalism.


    6. Current license in country of origin with Specialist Anesthesiologist DHA license to practice in Dubai, U.A.E.


    7. Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.


    8. Valid ACLS license is a must.


    9. Ability to work in cordial conditions in group practice in a hospital set up.
