Job description

The Speech Therapist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing therapeutic interventions for patients with speech, language, communication, voice, fluency, swallowing, and related disorders. The role involves developing individualized treatment plans, delivering evidence-based therapy, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support patients in achieving optimal communication and swallowing outcomes.



Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients with speech, language, communication, voice, and swallowing difficulties.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessment findings and clinical needs.
  • Provide speech and language therapy interventions for pediatric and adult patients.
  • Conduct swallowing assessments and provide appropriate therapeutic interventions as required.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessment reports, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy techniques and home-based exercises.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
  • Participate in patient case discussions and contribute to comprehensive care planning.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical guidelines, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional ethical standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, training programs, and departmental activities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy / Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid professional license/eligibility as required by UAE healthcare authorities (DHA/DOH/MOHAP).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience in speech and language therapy preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital, rehabilitation center, or multidisciplinary healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with pediatric and/or adult patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
