Job Summary

The Store Supervisor – Automotive will oversee daily store operations within the automotive department, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient stock management and safe, compliant working practices. The role involves supervising sales colleagues, maintaining merchandising standards, supporting inventory control and contributing to sales and service targets. The Store Supervisor will act as a key point of contact for customers and internal teams, resolving issues and driving continuous improvement.



Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service & Sales



    • Lead by example to deliver high standards of customer service and technical advice on automotive products and accessories



    • Support sales activities to meet department and store sales targets, including upselling and product demonstrations



    • Handle and resolve customer enquiries, complaints and returns in a timely, professional manner



  • Team Leadership & Development



    • Supervise, coach and schedule store colleagues to ensure adequate cover and high performance



    • Provide on‑the‑job training and product knowledge development for the team



    • Promote a positive, inclusive working environment and support adherence to company policies



  • Stock & Merchandising



    • Manage stock levels, perform regular stock counts and support replenishment to maintain availability



    • Ensure merchandise is presented to company standards, including labelling, signage and promotional layouts



    • Coordinate with warehouse and procurement teams to resolve stock discrepancies and returns



  • Operational & Health & Safety



    • Oversee daily opening and closing procedures, cash handling and point‑of‑sale operations



    • Ensure compliance with health and safety, manual handling and COSHH requirements relevant to automotive products



    • Maintain a secure, organised store environment and report any incidents or maintenance needs



  • Administration & Reporting



    • Prepare and submit daily/weekly sales and stock reports and support loss prevention activities



    • Support rostering, timekeeping and basic HR administration for the departmental team



    • Use store systems (POS, stock management, ERP) to process orders, reservations and transfers accurately



  • Customer & Supplier Collaboration



    • Work with external suppliers and in‑store service partners to coordinate fittings, deliveries and specialised services



    • Escalate supplier or warranty issues and liaise with the wider business to ensure satisfactory resolution



  • Continuous Improvement



    • Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, efficiency and sales performance within the automotive department



    • Contribute to local initiatives and share best practice across the store network



Requirements

Education



  • Any graduate or relevant vocational qualifications in automotive or retail management advantageous



Experience



  • Experience in retail, automotive parts or related customer‑facing environment, with supervisory responsibilities preferred



  • Proven track record of delivering customer service and achieving sales targets



  • Experience of stock control, merchandising and use of retail systems (POS, stock management, ERP) desirable



Technical Competencies
  • Good product knowledge of automotive parts and accessories, or willingness to learn



  • Competent IT skills and ability to work with retail and inventory systems



  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with customers, suppliers and colleagues



  • Organisational skills with attention to detail for stock accuracy and merchandising standards



  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage a small team in a fast‑paced retail environment
