ROLE SCOPE
Repairs & Alterations & Support for the Daily Operation
- Altering and repairing existing costumes for show productions, as well as costumes and craft piece fabrication
- As needed, help with daily laundry including washing, hanging, ironing and steaming all costume pieces
- Assists in checking in and out of costumes on daily basis as needed
- Assists in dressing performers in backstage or Green Rooms as a dresser, where needed
- Help Senior Tailors with their tailoring tasks
- Performs any Costume Attendant duties as required
Building New Costumes & Overlays In-House
- Building the new costumes, overlays as per the design from start to finish, following the guideline of the Senior Tailors, Master Tailor and Costuming Management.
- Building costumes include all steps from the start to finish including but not limited to pattern making as per design, cutting, stitching, fitting the costume on the performers, making alterations/changes as per requirement and making sure the newly built costume pieces are show-ready.
- Supporting the Costume Tech division by helping with the stitching part of their props/costume-props.
Inventory Tracking
- Keeping track of supplies and sharing the needs with the senior tailors/management in timely manner, to make sure you never run out of necessary supplies
- Keeping the stock of fabrics, trims, accessories stored in an organized way to be able to track the inventory easily
Other Duties
- Participates in off-site or on-site public relations events involving costumes and performers
- Shares information and best practices from their expertise with other colleagues
- Attends Costuming department meetings where requested
- Helps to create a fun and safe working environment
- Interface with all colleagues and outside vendors in a professional and courteous manner when needed
- Other duties as requested by leadership
QUALIFICATIONS
Essentials:
- Higher secondary or equivalent education
- Minimum of 3 years sewing background
- Sewing and tailoring skills - both hand and machine sewing
- Knowledge of cutting/fitting and patternmaking
- Able to operate both industrial and home sewing machines
- Able to operate serger machines
- Attention to details and highly organized
- Knowledge of written and spoken English
- Previous experience working with performers
Desirable:
- Associate degree or higher in theatre
- 5 years sewing background
- 2 years with theme park, theatre productions and/or cruise ship experience
- Costume repair and manufacturing background
- Knowledge of theatrical show supplies
- Specialization in costume technology
- Theme Park experience
