Job description

  • Perform sampling, sample preparation, and XRF analysis in accordance with standard operating procedures.


  • Witness or conduct the offloading, weighing, loading, and sealing of materials and containers.


  • Capture, verify, and maintain accurate records of material information, weights, and inspection data.


  • Update and reconcile inspection and analytical data using relevant databases and reporting systems.


  • Generate and distribute XRF analysis reports within agreed turnaround times.


  • Ensure all client instructions and quality requirements are communicated and followed.


  • Operate and maintain XRF equipment, including routine calibration and basic maintenance.


  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures, SOPs, and safety regulations.


  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, equipment logs, and work documentation.


  • Support the efficient management of material scanning activities to meet operational deadlines.


  • Investigate and assist in resolving operational issues, discrepancies, and client queries.


  • Train and mentor junior technicians and support new employee onboarding.


  • Liaise with clients regarding inspection and analytical activities when required.


  • Report safety hazards, equipment issues, or operational concerns to management.


  • Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned.



RequirementsRequirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor's qualification in a relevant scientific or technical field, or equivalent practical experience.


  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a commercial minerals laboratory, sample preparation, or quality control environment.


  • Hands-on experience with XRF analysis and mineral sample preparation.


  • Basic understanding of mineral inspection, weighing, and bulk sample management.


  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and digital devices.


  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English; Kiswahili is an advantages.


  • Ability to work in hot, dusty, and physically demanding environments.


  • Commitment to health, safety, quality, and ethical working standards.
