MRI Field Service Engineer – Northwest Region

Purpose of the Role

As an MRI Field Service Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the technical needs of Philips MRI customers across the Northwest. Working both independently and as part of a highly skilled regional team, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems, ensuring maximum system performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.

This role is focused on MRI systems, with opportunities to develop expertise across additional imaging modalities as business requirements evolve.

The successful candidate will ideally be based within the Manchester, Liverpool, or surrounding areas, with convenient access to customer sites throughout Northwest.

Your Responsibilities

  • Operate at an advanced technical level, providing expert technical support and guidance to customers and colleagues.
  • Deliver field-based technical support in line with your training, experience, and product competencies.
  • Perform corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, installations, upgrades, and field change orders on complex MRI systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hardware, software, and network-related issues using established diagnostic procedures and technical documentation.
  • Determine the most effective and cost-efficient solutions to minimise customer downtime and maximise system availability.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation in accordance with Philips Quality Management System (QMS) and regulatory requirements.
  • Build strong customer relationships through professional communication and a customer-first approach.
  • Participate in the Field Service Engineer on-call rota, providing timely support to customers as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, sharing technical knowledge and best practices across the service organisation.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with Philips quality, regulatory, health & safety, and customer site requirements.

About the Team

You will be part of a collaborative team of Field Service Engineers supporting Philips MRI customers across the region. The team is committed to delivering industry-leading service levels while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and customer care within a highly regulated healthcare environment.

You will report directly to the Service Delivery Manager for the Northwest.

To Succeed in This Role, You Will Need

  • HNC/HND (NVQ Level 3 or above), Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in diagnosing and repairing complex medical, imaging, electronic, or electromechanical systems.
  • Strong logical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in the field.
  • Experience supporting MRI systems is highly desirable; experience in other advanced imaging modalities will also be considered.
  • Good understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, system connectivity, cybersecurity principles, and remote diagnostics.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical knowledge across multiple products and technologies.
  • Strong customer focus with excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for service improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Northwest.
  • Residence within a suitable location to effectively support customers across Northwest England.

Doing meaningful work should come with fair, transparent rewards. The base salary range for this role is £35 000 - £ 50 000. We determine pay within the range using objective factors, like the skills the role requires, your relevant experience and the responsibility you'll have in this role, alongside internal equity and local market considerations. This role is eligible for a company car and an annual incentive, with your rewards linked to key performance indicators and company results.  Benefits include a generous pension contribution, private healthcare, health and wellbeing benefits as well as learning and development opportunities. We’ll share the full approach with you during the interview process, so you can make a clear, informed decision.

Additional Information

As this role involves working within healthcare environments, a standard DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with leading-edge MRI technology while making a meaningful difference to healthcare providers and patients across the NW2 region.
