Job description

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a senior electrical architect to define and continuously evolve the next generation of OCI's global electrical infrastructure platform. This role will establish the strategic electrical architecture that enables OCI's rapidly growing AI and cloud infrastructure while driving innovation in scalability, resiliency, deployment speed, manufacturability, and total lifecycle cost.

As the technical owner of OCI's future electrical platform, you will develop reference architectures and design philosophies that support next-generation rack densities, evolving AI workloads, medium- and low-voltage distribution, advanced cooling technologies, and emerging power systems. You will challenge conventional approaches to data center design by incorporating modular infrastructure, factory-built assemblies, and industrialized construction methods that accelerate deployment while improving quality and consistency across OCI's global portfolio.

Working closely with Design Engineering, Product Engineering, Engineering Systems, Construction, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and strategic OEM partners, you will define the engineering standards, product strategies, and technology roadmaps that shape OCI's future infrastructure platform.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in electrical power systems with a passion for innovation and the ability to develop practical engineering solutions that fundamentally improve how hyperscale data centers are designed, manufactured, and deployed.

Only Oracle brings together the data, infrastructure, applications, and expertise to power everything from industry innovations to life-saving care. And with AI embedded across our products and services, we help customers turn that promise into a better future for all. Discover your potential at a company leading the way in AI and cloud solutions that impact billions of lives.

True innovation starts when everyone is empowered to contribute. That’s why we’re committed to growing a workforce that promotes opportunities for all with competitive benefits that support our people with flexible medical, life insurance, and retirement options. We also encourage employees to give back to their communities through our volunteer programs.

We’re committed to including people with disabilities at all stages of the employment process. If you require accessibility assistance or accommodation for a disability at any point, let us know by emailing [email protected] or by calling 1-888-404-2494 in the United States.

Oracle will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records pursuant to applicable law.

Responsibilities:
What you’ll do
  • Next-Generation Electrical Architecture
    • Own and evolve OCI's next-generation global electrical architecture for hyperscale and AI data centers.
    • Develop reference architectures for medium- and low-voltage distribution that support increasing rack power densities and future infrastructure technologies.
    • Define long-term electrical design strategies balancing resiliency, scalability, constructability, manufacturability, sustainability, and operational simplicity.
    • Drive architectural innovation supporting future campus growth and GW-scale deployments.
  • Innovation & Modular Infrastructure
    • Lead development of innovative electrical infrastructure solutions that significantly improve deployment speed, quality, and total cost of ownership.
    • Identify opportunities to replace traditional field-built electrical systems with standardized modular, skidded, and factory-integrated solutions.
    • Develop electrical architectures optimized for Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and off-site manufacturing.
    • Partner with Product Engineering and OEMs to develop integrated electrical products and modular infrastructure platforms.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies that simplify installation, reduce commissioning effort, and improve deployment consistency across OCI's global fleet.
  • Electrical Design Strategy
    • Establish engineering standards for generators, turbines, switchgear, transformers, UPS architectures, battery energy storage systems (BESS), relay protection, and electrical distribution.
    • Develop strategic one-line architectures, protection philosophies, SCADA and EMS architectures, equipment specifications, and electrical design standards.
    • Ensure designs meet OCI objectives for resiliency, maintainability, operational flexibility, and future expansion.
    • Define electrical design philosophies supporting evolving compute platforms and AI infrastructure.
  • Technology Development
    • Evaluate new electrical technologies and determine how they integrate into OCI's future infrastructure platform.
    • Develop technology roadmaps for medium-voltage distribution, power conversion, energy storage, automation, and intelligent electrical systems.
    • Partner with Rack Engineering to understand future compute roadmaps and translate evolving rack requirements into electrical infrastructure innovations.
    • Lead technical evaluations of emerging products while influencing OEM roadmaps to support OCI's long-term strategy.
  • Engineering Leadership
    • Provide technical leadership from concept through commissioning and operational readiness.
    • Partner with Design Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations to ensure new electrical architectures are successfully deployed.
    • Participate in First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) technology validation and pilot deployments.
    • Support engineering reviews and continuous improvement based on operational performance and lessons learned.
  • Vendor & Industry Leadership
    • Lead technical engagement with OEMs, utilities, engineering firms, and industry organizations.
    • Influence supplier technology roadmaps to align with OCI's future electrical architecture.
    • Lead RFIs, technical evaluations, product qualifications, and strategic technology partnerships.
    • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, translating innovation into deployable infrastructure solutions.
What you’ll bring
  • 12+ years of experience in electrical power systems engineering for hyperscale data centers, utilities, mission-critical facilities, or industrial infrastructure.
  • Deep expertise in medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing electrical architectures rather than supporting individual projects.
  • Experience designing highly resilient electrical systems supporting mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of power system studies, protection coordination, relay design, grounding, and electrical modeling.
  • Experience developing innovative engineering solutions that improve deployment speed, quality, or cost.
  • Experience with modular infrastructure, prefabrication, industrialized construction, or factory-built electrical systems is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence engineering strategy across large cross-functional organizations.
What sets you apart
  • You think in platforms, not projects.
  • You enjoy challenging conventional engineering approaches and developing innovative solutions.
  • You understand that the best design is one that can be built repeatedly, quickly, and consistently.
  • You naturally balance technical excellence with manufacturability, constructability, operational simplicity, and lifecycle performance.
  • You are passionate about developing the next generation of hyperscale infrastructure rather than optimizing the last generation.
