Job Summary The Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the company by maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring transactions are properly recorded, and assisting with reconciliations and financial reporting.
The role covers a broad range of accounting activities including transaction recording, inventory accounting, sales reconciliation, payroll review, VAT compliance, and financial documentation while ensuring adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Key Responsibilities Accounting Records Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
Prepare and post journal entries with proper supporting documentation.
Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
Accounts Processing Record supplier invoices and assist with supplier payment processing in coordination with the Finance Manager.
Record customer payments and monitor receivable balances.
Ensure expenses are recorded accurately and allocated to the appropriate accounts.
Store & POS Reconciliation Reconcile store sales with POS reports and system records.
Review store cash deposits and investigate discrepancies.
Ensure accurate recording of sales from all channels including retail stores and online platforms.
Inventory Accounting Record inventory transactions and adjustments in the accounting system.
Assist in reconciling physical inventory with system records.
Support stock count procedures and investigate inventory variances.
Calculate and allocate landed costs (freight, customs duties, and related import expenses) to inventory to ensure accurate product costing.
Bank & Account Reconciliation Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
Reconcile supplier, customer, and other balance sheet accounts.
Review account balances to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Financial Closing Assist with monthly financial closing activities.
Ensure transactions are recorded in the correct accounting period.
Support preparation of financial schedules and reports in accordance with 'FRS principles and company accounting policies.
Payroll & Employee Earnings Review Review employee payroll records including salaries, allowances, overtime, and other earnings before processing.
Ensure payroll calculations are accurate and supported by approved documentation.
Verify that payroll entries are correctly recorded in the accounting system and allocated to the appropriate accounts.
VAT Compliance Ensure transactions are properly recorded for VAT purposes.
Maintain VAT documentation and supporting records.
Assist in preparing VAT reports in compliance with ZATCA regulations.
Expense Review & Control Review expense claims and supporting documents for completeness and compliance with company policies.
Ensure expenses are properly authorized before recording them.
Fixed Assets Maintain records of company fixed assets.
Assist in tracking asset additions, disposals, and depreciation.
Operational Coordination Coordinate with operations, warehouse, and store teams regarding financial matters.
Support improvements in accounting procedures and internal controls.
Perform other accounting-related duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in a retail environment.
Experience using Odoo ERP or similar accounting systems.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Good command of English (spoken and written).
Good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and accounting principles.
