About the Position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join the Projects / Facilities Design Engineering team. Reporting to the Process Engineering Lead this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Execution & Engineering Delivery
Provide process engineering design support to DM&C - (DOWNSTREAM, MIDSTREAM & CHEMICALS) capital projects, including early-phase project development and execution.
Develop, modify, and review (as required per project) process design deliverables (e.g., heat and material balances, process datasheets, process simulations, integrated basis of design (IBOD), and design calculations).
Review and improve process designs to ensure operability, reliability, maintainability, and safety.
Support engineering work package development and interface with cross-functional engineering teams, including SMEs.
Manage and support multiple projects and process system initiatives simultaneously.
Develop and modify detailed process simulation models (e.g., HYSYS, PRO/II) to evaluate design and operating scenarios.
Perform engineering analyses including mass and energy balances, fluid flow, heat transfer, process control concepts, and equipment sizing.
Use process monitoring and data analytics tools (e.g., PI, Seeq) to support project development.
Contribute to the development and application of digital tools that enhance process monitoring, diagnostics, and decision-making.
Initiate and participate in process safety activities required by the project (including Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), LOPA, etc.)
Support Management of Change (MOC) for process design packages and associated modifications.
Apply Process Safety Management concepts, including alarm management, integrity operating windows, and safe operating/design practices.
Work with Operations, Maintenance, Automation, Project Controls, and other engineering disciplines to support integrated project delivery, including EPCs.
Contribute to knowledge sharing, standardization, and continuous improvement within the Portfolio and Planning group.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Chemical Engineering or a related field from a recognized (AICTE) university.
Minimum 10 years of process engineering or process design experience in refining, LNG, and/or complex oil and gas processing facilities.
Experience supporting process design and/or capital projects in a cross-functional engineering environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across a global workforce.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with refining and processing technologies (e.g., crude/vacuum distillation, FCC, hydroprocessing, hydrogen manufacturing, amine/sour water systems, etc).
Strong background in process modeling and simulation tools (e.g., HYSYS, PRO/II) and the ability to translate results into practical design and operating recommendations.
Experience using process monitoring and analytics platforms (e.g., PI, Seeq) to support troubleshooting, optimization, and performance improvement.
Working knowledge of Process Safety Management concepts, including PHAs and Management of Change (MOC), and applying safe design/operating practices.
10-15 years of process engineering experience supporting capital projects and/or operating facilities.
