Job description

Role Purpose:
Driving the design in our hotels to achieve operational efficiency, brand defining hotels whilst supporting growth in our portfolio. To advise and report on hotel properties and projects to ensure any hotels entering the IHG system conform to brand standards, and requirements. To ensure hotel projects are designed in line with IHG and industry best practice and support the relevant IHG brand values and positioning. Provide advice and support to existing hotels, to help improve, develop and enhance their design and layout as requested. To be able to advise clients on the best and most cost-effective design solution (performance uplift) to create an efficient hotel compliant with the relevant standards and owners.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Great Hotels Guests Love - To be responsible for individual hotel projects, liaise with internal and external customers and report on a timely basis progress of projects. To receive, visit and report on property details as required by Development including compliance with brand standards, fire/life safety standards and good practice. 
  • New Hotel Development – Manage the process of reviewing potential hotel projects in line with IHG Brand Standards and design guidelines including concept design, documentation, and inspections, as well as the pre-opening inspections. 
  • Brand Execution – Manages the process for Property Improvement Plans to include on site evaluations and execution of PIP plans. Ensures that quality of work and standards are followed and maintained at all properties to protect integrity/image of brands. 
  • IHG and Team Engagement- Works closely with Engineering and Brand Safety function within the region to collaborate on issues impacting new conversion or renovation project plans and related costs to ensure objectives are achieved and consistency in standards.
  • Working alongside the Design and Engineering Team (CEF) produce PIPs, DTR’s, BSR’s as well as Brand defining pitch presentations with best-in-class documentation. 
  • Working across all brands, provides support to Owners as per the Technical Services Agreement throughout the project lifespan from inception through consultant appointment, concept development through construction, to handover to IHG operating teams. Lead and manage workflow, involving internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure project progress on a timely basis. This includes communicating key decisions that might impact cost, resource and dateline to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Manages the process of reviewing Hotel projects in terms of IHG design standards, including concept design, schematic/ Detailed Design & Tender documentation, periodic site inspections and Pre-opening inspections.
  • Works closely with Engineering function within the region to collaborate on issues impacting project plans and related costs to ensure objectives are achieved and consistency in standards.
  • Champions green design and sustainability practices in the industry, support the company’s Journey to Tomorrow net/zero carbon ambitions.
  • Collaborates with and provides feedback to all Brand teams on trend and challenges in order to refine Brand Standards and shape future requirements. 
  • Acts as a subject matter mentor to manager level colleagues, assisting the mutual personal and team-wide growth of Design & Engineering. 
     

Required Education, Experience, Technical Skills and Knowledge:


Education
University degree/diploma in Architecture, & Construction, Interior Design
 


Experience 
● Minimum 5 years in experience in design, construction and project management in a multi-national company in a service branded environment. 
● Strong knowledge of architecture, design, and construction principles with an understanding of applicable laws.
