Job description

Edelman is a voice synonymous with trust, reimagining a future where the currency of communication is action. Our culture thrives on three promises: boldness is possibility, empathy is progress, and curiosity is momentum.

At Edelman, we understand diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) transform our colleagues, our company, our clients, and our communities. We are in relentless pursuit of an equitable and inspiring workplace that is respectful of all, reflects and represents the world in which we live, and fosters trust, collaboration and belonging.

Edelman Malaysia is seeking a Senior Executive to support corporate reputation and integrated communications work for clients across corporate, technology, government-linked, sustainability and reputation-led sectors.

We are looking for a strong writer, organised account handler and confident communicator who can manage day-to-day client work, support media and stakeholder engagement, contribute to strategic planning, and guide junior team members.

Responsibilities and expectations

  • Manage day-to-day workstreams across multiple client accounts, ensuring quality, timelines and follow-ups are met.
  • Serve as a day-to-day client contact, building trusted peer-level relationships and advising proactively on communications strategies and approach.
  • Support the development of communications plans, corporate narratives, key messages, thought leadership, media strategies and stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Draft and edit materials including press releases, media pitches, briefing documents, Q&As, holding statements, op-eds, speeches, LinkedIn content, reports and client correspondence.
  • Build and maintain media and stakeholder relationships across business, corporate, technology, financial services, sustainability, policy and trade sectors.
  • Support issues management and reputation risk work, including monitoring, social listening, misinformation/disinformation tracking, escalation notes and response materials.
  • Use research, media intelligence, social listening and data points to inform recommendations and measure communications outcomes.
  • Coordinate integrated earned, social, digital and content-led campaigns with internal teams where relevant.
  • Mentor junior team members on research, reporting, writing, monitoring and account administration.
  • Support new business pitches through research, media audits, competitor reviews, proposal development and presentation support.
  • Manage external vendors and partners, including overseeing deliverables, providing recommendations and supporting negotiations where required.

Requirements

  • Around 2–4 years of relevant experience in communications, PR, corporate affairs, public affairs, journalism, consulting, media or social/digital communications.
  • Strong writing, editing, research, organisation and client-servicing skills.
  • Good understanding of Malaysia’s media, business and stakeholder landscape.
  • Interest in corporate reputation, issues management, executive positioning, thought leadership, sustainability, technology and financial services.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, solve problems and work confidently in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Comfortable using media monitoring, social listening, analytics and AI-enabled tools responsibly to support communications work.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Bahasa Malaysia and/or Mandarin would be an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
