Job description

Responsibilities
  • Assist the engineering crew in dismantling and reassembling exhaust manifold systems.


  • Safely remove worn gaskets, clean mating surfaces, and install new exhaust manifold gaskets as per OEM specifications.


  • Operate torque wrenches, spanners, and lifting tools under supervision.


  • Follow permit-to-work systems, lockout-tagout procedures, and confined space safety rules.


  • Check exhaust manifold components for cracks, warping, or corrosion before reassembly.


  • Record gasket changes, torque values, and inspection findings in maintenance logs.


  • Work closely with deck foreman, millwrights, and engine room crew to ensure smooth workflow.


  • Support emergency response drills and ensure readiness during mechanical failures.


  • Manage gasket kits, fasteners, and consumables required for exhaust system maintenance.


  • Provide feedback on gasket replacement procedures to improve efficiency and safety.



RequirementsQualifications
  • Diploma / Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent trade.


  • Minimum 3–5 years mechanical maintenance experience, preferably offshore or marine.


Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of engine exhaust systems, gasket materials, and torque specifications.


  • Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated areas.
