Provide functional and people leadership to a team that develops technically robust, commercially competitive and executable proposals for Industrial Steam Turbine & Generator customers in India and worldwide Own the end-to-end proposal process - from inquiry receipt through clarification, scope definition, costing, risk assessment, internal approvals and final submission Start your day by reviewing the opportunity pipeline and aligning priorities, workload and resources with Sales Managers Step in on complex scope questions, lead technical/commercial risk reviews and coordinate with engineering, procurement, field service, commercial and regional sales teams on strategic opportunities Coach the team, review proposal quality and shape assignments that balance workload with meaningful development exposure Drive improvements in proposal tools, costing methodologies, templates, processes and portfolio offerings Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to shape winning proposals that support our customers and grow our business How You'll Make an Impact: Team Leadership and Capability Development Lead, coach and develop a team of proposal engineers in an environment of accountability, collaboration and continuous learning Set clear priorities, objectives, roles and performance expectations aligned with business needs Allocate opportunities to balance workload and give team members exposure to diverse customers, technologies, regions and proposal complexities Build technical, commercial, digital and leadership capabilities through coaching, structured development plans and targeted assignments Support onboarding of new colleagues and foster an inclusive, psychologically safe environment where ideas and concerns can be openly raise. Proposal Execution and Governance Maintain oversight of the proposal pipeline; ensure prioritization, resource planning and timely execution Provide direction and technical guidance for complex, high-value, strategic or non-standard proposals; including translating customer requirements into competitive, technically feasible solutions Ensure clarity of scope, assumptions, exclusions, interfaces and technical boundaries in every proposal Establish robust review and governance covering technical completeness, costing, risks & opportunities, contractual interfaces, approvals and submission readiness Identify delivery constraints, technical uncertainties and commercial risks early; drive timely escalation, mitigation and resolution Ensure disciplined adherence to internal processes, approval workflows & compliance requirements Stakeholder and Interface Management Act as the primary functional interface between the team and Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Field Service, Commercial, Project Management, Product Management and global organization Build trusted relationships with global stakeholders through transparent communication on priorities, risks, resource needs and proposal status Facilitate technical clarifications, scope alignment, risk & opportunity reviews and management decisions for critical opportunities Support Sales Managers in customer discussions and negotiations by ensuring technical commitments remain clear, achievable and well-documented Cultivate long-term relationships with key customers, acting as a senior point of contact for complex negotiations and escalations Represent the team in business reviews, planning discussions and cross-functional improvement forums Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement Define and monitor team indicators for proposal quality, responsiveness, delivery reliability, workload and process effectiveness Drive standardization and continuous improvement of proposal processes, costing approaches, calculation tools, templates and checklists Promote effective use of office automation, data analytics, AI and other digital tools to improve efficiency and decision quality Steer the shift from product-based to solution-based offers by embedding a solution-driven mindset in the team Encourage structured lessons learned from won, lost and executed proposals and feed insights back into future offers Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering stakeholders, develop new offerings and strengthen competitiveness Establish knowledge-management practices that make technical and commercial know-how accessible across the team and reduce dependency on individual experts Manage organizational risk across the sales development cycle - both customer contractual obligations and robust internal forecasting. We don’t need superheroes, just super minds Bachelor's degree in engineering - Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation & Controls 10+ years of experience in Proposal Engineering, Project Engineering or BOP Procurement, with demonstrated leadership traits Prior experience in energy, power generation or heavy industrial sectors preferred; customer-facing experience is a plus Strong grasp of proposal development: specification evaluation, scope definition, costing coordination, risk & opportunity assessment, technical documentation, internal approvals and offer preparation Confidence in decision-making, resolving ambiguity, constructively challenging assumptions and escalating when required Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills across Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Commercial and Field Service Proven experience leading people, mentoring colleagues or providing functional leadership in a complex, international environment Structured, proactive and results-oriented leadership approach with attention to quality and detail.
