Job Vacancy: Draftsman – Event Production
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsman to join our event production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings, shop drawings, fabrication details, and production documentation for a wide range of event projects, including scenic stage sets, exhibition stands, custom-built structures, event installations, retail displays, and temporary event infrastructure.
The Draftsman will work closely with the Design, Estimating, Production, Procurement, and Project Management teams to transform creative concepts into practical, buildable, and production-ready drawings while ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and production capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and installation drawings for event production projects.
- Interpret design concepts, sketches, renderings, and client requirements into accurate production drawings.
- Produce complete drawing packages for scenic fabrication, stage structures, exhibition booths, retail displays, custom furniture, and other event-related structures.
- Develop detailed plans, elevations, sections, and construction details for fabrication and installation.
- Prepare cutting lists, material schedules, and production details to support manufacturing.
- Coordinate with the Design team to ensure drawings accurately reflect the approved concepts.
- Work closely with the Estimating team to clarify technical requirements and support accurate costing.
- Coordinate with the Production team to ensure drawings are practical, buildable, and optimized for fabrication.
- Revise drawings based on client comments, production requirements, site conditions, or design modifications.
- Conduct site measurements and prepare as-built drawings when required.
- Ensure all drawings comply with applicable safety standards, venue regulations, and company quality standards.
- Maintain proper drawing revisions and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support Project Managers during project execution by providing technical clarification when needed.
- Assist in resolving fabrication or installation issues through drawing revisions and technical solutions.
- Ensure all drawings are completed accurately and within project deadlines.
Skills
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Interior Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of drafting experience, preferably in: Event production; Scenic fabrication; Exhibition stand construction; Stage production; Interior fit-out; Joinery; Custom fabrication
- Strong understanding of fabrication methods, construction detailing, and production processes.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, engineering drawings, and conceptual designs.
- Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp for 3D modeling is highly preferred (required).
- Knowledge of 3ds Max, Rhino, SolidWorks, or similar software is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret and produce: Shop drawings; Fabrication drawings; Assembly drawings; Installation drawings; Detail drawings; Material schedules; Cutting lists
- Good understanding of: Carpentry and joinery; Steel and aluminum fabrication; Acrylic fabrication; CNC production; Printing and graphics applications; Painting and finishing; Stage systems; Lighting structures; Rigging concepts; Modular event systems; Temporary event structures
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience preparing technical drawings for the following projects are highly preferred:
