Job description

The Yacht Deckhand is responsible for maintaining the exterior appearance, cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of the yacht. The role supports daily marine operations, docking activities, guest services, maintenance tasks, and onboard safety procedures while ensuring luxury hospitality standards are maintained at all times.


Key Responsibilities

Deck Operations

Assist with docking, anchoring, mooring, and unmooring operations.

Handle ropes, fenders, lines, and deck equipment safely and efficiently.

Prepare the yacht before departure and secure all deck areas after operations.

Conduct regular washdowns, polishing, waxing, and detailing of exterior surfaces.

Maintain teak decks, stainless steel fittings, hull surfaces, and exterior furniture.

Operate and maintain tenders, jet skis, and water sports equipment.

Assist during fueling and bunkering operations following safety procedures.

Perform navigation watch duties as assigned by the Captain or Officer.


Maintenance & Technical Support

Carry out preventive maintenance and routine inspections of deck machinery and equipment.

Inspect and maintain:

Winches, Anchoring systems, Cranes, Hydraulic systems, andSafety equipment

Report defects, damages, or maintenance requirements immediately.

Support minor painting, varnishing, fiberglass, and repair works.

Assist engineering and technical teams when required.


Guest Services

Provide professional and discreet guest assistance onboard.

Prepare deck areas for guest activities and events.

Support launching and recovery of water toys and recreational equipment.

Assist guests during boarding, excursions, and watersports activities.

Maintain high standards of hospitality, presentation, and personal grooming.


Safety & Compliance

Follow all maritime safety regulations, ISM procedures, and yacht policies.

Participate in emergency drills including:

Firefighting, Man overboard, Abandon ship, andFirst aid.

Ensure all deck areas remain hazard-free and compliant with safety standards.

Properly use PPE and safety equipment.

Assist in maintaining security awareness onboard.


Inventory & Housekeeping

Monitor deck supplies, cleaning materials, and consumables inventory.

Ensure proper storage and care of deck tools and equipment.

Maintain cleanliness of:

Exterior decks, Storage lockers, Tender garages, and Crew work spaces.
